Syrian Refugees in Turkey

Syrian refugees entering Turkey

The open-border and refugee crises and our handling of them is not a question of loving vs. hateful, it’s suicide vs. self-preservation.  Where there is opportunity, the bad will come with the good.  That’s why our immigration process and enforcing legal immigration laws are so critical.  If the Obama administration is demanding now that we take in however many tens of thousands of Syrian refugees, how will we vet them?  Where will they stay while they’re being vetted?  Add to this Obama’s next round of executive-ordered amnesty for the however-many tens of thousands of illegal immigrants already here.  It’s a big uncompassionate mess.

When I think of the immigration process my husband went through to become a citizen, he had a background check to ensure he wasn’t a criminal; he was medically tested and immunized to ensure he wasn’t carrying disease; he had to declare his intention of embracing America’s constitution, language and values (taking an oath much similar to the one our military and representatives take).  When you immigrate to any country, you must prove you’re not a threat and that you’re there for the right reasons.  This is good.  It’s compassionate.  It protects both citizen and immigrant.  It sets both up for success.

Much as we may want to help, to throw open the doors to our communities without care and consideration would be reckless.  For all the hard-working illegal immigrants or the sincere, authentic refugees seeking asylum, there are bad actors.  We don’t know why any new-comer is here until we ask them and verify.  All it takes is one bad actor to reap disaster.  A radical with a machine-gun on a train, for example.  Legal immigration and enforcing our laws protects citizen and immigrant alike.  The Syrian refugee crisis requires some similar process.  There’s only one way to welcome the good and sift out the bad: by controlling the flow and vetting all who enter.

The legal immigration system is only broken in the sense that the current laws aren’t enforced, our border is a sieve, and the government bureaucracy can’t handle the numbers it has now, letting in the likes of the Tsarnaev brothers (who were refugees, by the way) despite repeated warnings and red flags.  If our government alternately refuses to or can’t deal with our current illegal immigration problem, what’s going to happen when we add tens of thousands of Syrian refugees?

The Only Important Question This Primary

The Only Important Question This Primary

There is only one important question this primary season: Will the candidate safeguard our sovereignty? There’s one easy way to tell, one policy, beyond which all other policy stances are irrelevant. Amnesty for illegal immigrants. Not jobs, the economy, foreign policy, health care, or anything else you can name. Illegal immigrants are taking our jobs, using our schools and health care system at taxpayer expense, and committing violent crime with impunity. And of course, they are voting in our elections. We already know there are 35,000 cases of suspected fraud in North Carolina alone according to the NC Board of Elections. Putting tens of millions on the “pathway to citizenship” will only exacerbate voter fraud and make it more difficult to stop. We’re not enforcing our immigration laws as it is. What’s to ensure the 30 million who broke our laws to get here comply with the new Amnesty laws, whatever they turn out to be? In the meantime, if we’re not requiring voters to prove who they are with government-issued photo ID, then our votes are no longer sovereign, and no other policy stance matters. I guess that makes me a one-policy voter.

Safeguarding our sovereignty requires a solid stance against illegal immigration and Amnesty. Otherwise, a candidate’s just vying for control of the Titanic. If you believe in a pathway to citizenship like Mark Harris, or you were a lobbyist for Big Agriculture and cry that farmers can’t survive without illegal labor like David Rouzer, or you gutted E-verify making it easier for businesses to hire illegal labor like Thom Tillis, then it’s simple: you’re not safeguarding our sovereignty because our basic right to vote is nullified when anyone, including illegal immigrants, can vote and not have to prove they’re eligible. So these men are not equipped to take that oath of office wherein one promises to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic.” I took that oath when I joined the Marines. My husband took a similar oath when he became a citizen. It’s nearly identical, “I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same…”.

The oaths of office matter, as do the sanctity of our votes and whom we choose to represent us. That’s why it’s easy to support men like Greg Brannon for U.S. Senate and Woody White for NC’s 7th District. I vetted both candidates in person before lending my support. Brannon is a constitutional encyclopedia, we know exactly what his guidebook is when it comes to policy. Secure borders and opposition to Amnesty are no brainers. With so many assets – an intelligent, well-spoken, pro-life doctor with a big beautiful family from all over the world – backing him is a no-brainer against Thom Tillis, who supported Common Core, state exchanges for Obamacare, brought us toll roads and is backed by the likes of Karl-guaranteed-to-lose-Rove. It’s easy to support Woody White, a conservative comfortable with something the GOP fails at: making the conservative argument to get government out of our way to prosperity and security. He’s also been very accessible, visible and has a fire in his belly to represent us in DC. Here in NC7 we have an open dialogue with him which we will continue when he wins. Meanwhile David Rouzer is dogging lawyers in DC, yet has one publicly fundraising for him, a Democrat lawyer and lobbyist, Rufus Edmisten, who abruptly resigned as NC’s Attorney General just as his offices were being audited. And while his latest mailer touts his supposed strength on illegal immigration, he lobbied for Big Ag in 2007 so they could get their cheap labor and in 2011 said he supported a pathway to citizenship in a Duplin county public meeting.  It doesn’t take much to figure out where his loyalties lie, and what he’s likely to do in Washington.

In today’s elections we don’t just need candidates who will keep the status quo, managing the Titanic as it sinks along with Boehner, Cantor, and Rove. This is not a contest for the faint and weak. The liberal opposition is playing for keeps, and there’s nothing they won’t do to win. We need representatives who fight the corrupt establishments of both parties. I’ll take the constitutional conservatives who are not afraid to argue.

The Amnesty Albatross

Americans know intrinsically that the Amnesty bill is a disaster waiting to happen that will destroy this country.  No matter Mark Zuckerberg’s “Americans for a Conservative Direction” ad propaganda and the like attempts at persuasion from Marco Rubio and the Gang of 8.  There are no real mandates for border security, no plans for properly handling and deporting criminals.  We have 20 million Americans out of work – disproportionately veterans and minorities.  Millions have lost their homes.  There is no regard for the even-more millions of jobs that will be lost by citizens and legal immigrants to cheap illegal labor.  There is no plan for how to enforce these tens of millions learning English or the other criteria for legalization, no realistic consideration for the cost of adding and training additional staff to handle the heavily increased demand.   The fine illegals will have to pay is not nearly what most legal immigrants pay over the course of years, travels, time and ink spent on the process – after having declared the actual desire to become American citizens and proved income stability, health and passed background checks.  That’s aside from the flagrant dereliction that let the Tsarnaev brothers through.  The millions whose first act in America was to break the law will not go to the back of the line, they will live as they have been: ignoring our laws and taking advantage of taxpayer-funded services.  Our U.S. Immigration personnel already can’t handle their current responsibilities, and our border and law enforcement agents are prevented from enforcing current law.  Americans past, present and future see this bill as the catastrophe it is.  Votes that push it through will be an albatross around each representative’s neck in 2014 and far beyond.

If they cared about securing the border, they would have a bill just for that and do it.  Build the fence.  Put the boots on the ground and arm them with bullets, not just bean bags.  Don’t apologize for it – we just suffered the Boston Marathon bombing.  If they were truly compassionate they would push for more scrutiny of immigrants coming to the U.S. and give no quarter to criminals.  But they won’t even ensure that our current laws are enforced, yielding and passive in the face of Janet Napolitano’s catch-and-release policy.  When Sequestration was the hot topic thousands of illegal alien criminals were released in its name, and those supposedly conservative Republicans pushing for Amnesty now didn’t stop it.  Nor did they stop the cuts that only managed to affect the military – those who would enforce border security – and tours of the White House.  The National Endowment for the Arts is thriving with narry a budgetary cut in sight.  Big bird?  Still getting paid.

Some Republicans are claiming Amnesty is the conservative thing to do, but such arguments rang false even before the Boston bombing.  As defenders of the Constitution, they are supposed to protect citizens – we are of all races and backgrounds.  Now they want to entrust with 14-30 million (depending whom you ask) more people the same US Immigration bozos who ignored Russia’s warnings about the Tsarnaev brothers twice and let them in…and out and in again before they bombed innocent civilians in a foot race?

If Amnesty passes, pleading diversity and compassion will mean less than nothing.  Voting in support of the Gang of 8 will show anything but compassion for the American citizens who hired them and pay salary, and the legal immigrants who followed the law.  They will be held responsible – by both parties and all races, citizens and non- – for the further and faster destruction of the economy and our security, with each strike from a foreign jihadist on their hands.  What they should be spending their time holding responsible those involved in the myriad of Obama administration scandals:  The IRS’ political targeting of conservatives, the NSA’s PRISM spying program, the Benghazi cover-up, the Fast & Furious gun-running scandal, and they should initiate a congressional inquiry on the Extortion 17 shoot-down.

The failure of the FARM bill which so many Republicans were hot to support shows that all is not completely lost in Washington.  Does this mean common sense will prevail?  So many RINOs seem to be turning a deaf ear to their conservative constituents while claiming to be conservative.  Conservatism sure matters to them when they’re running.  What’s ironic is that in supporting the Gang of 8’s Amnesty plan they would be destroying the very country in which they’ve prospered so far.  They are pushing the same policies that failed yesterday – the policies that fail every time because a bad idea will yield bad results regardless of who’s executing.  With porous borders open for suicide bombers we can’t afford to repeat these mistakes.  We know this won’t work and we will pay with our liberty, our livelihoods and our lives.

Despite the constant barrage of bad proposals, false advertising, and continued arrogance from Republicans and Democrats alike, we the people are still sovereign.  So are our votes.  Neither will be if the Gang of 8’s plan passes.  This article is being rewritten as a letter to every representative I can contact.  I hope you will do this too.  Borrow from this piece, I don’t mind.  Call them, visit their offices.  The vote hasn’t happened yet and there is still time to sound off.  Continue to educate yourself for each time this same bad proposal comes up (the documentary linked below is a great place to start).  Demand that your representatives focus on their duty to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.   That is their first oath.  We must hold them to it!

They Come To America

Dear Gang of 8

There should be no discussion whatsoever about changing or amending immigration policy without first securing our border, enforcing current immigration law, and implementing E-verify.  The Boston Marathon bombing perfectly illustrates why we should insist that our borders be secured and our immigration policy vigorously enforced. Our borders are wide open and we all know it.  You have no idea who the millions of illegal immigrants in this country are:  You don’t know why they came, where they’ve been, what they bring with them.  You haven’t asked each and every one of them.  Our current immigration process does just that – so the United States knows that when an immigrant has become a citizen, his background has been checked for criminal records, his blood checked for communicable diseases, his financial records checked for stability, his knowledge of the country, its laws, and his reasons for being here committed to record.  My husband went through that process and became a citizen, it’s not that hard!

The millions who go through that process have declared that they want to be citizens and they obeyed our laws so that they too could be protected by those laws.  Many fled from countries where they didn’t have such protection.  The last idea our representatives should be entertaining is to pile millions of illegal immigrants – who didn’t want to bother with our legal process – on top of the millions who did.  This is already an overburdened process.  How much extra taxpayer funded staff will have to be added to field the paperwork of all the new Amnesty recipients?  How many legal immigrants’ cases will be slowed and pushed aside for illegals to get a cheap ticket at the front?  Why should law-breakers be rewarded?  Why should law-abiding legal immigrants be so slighted?

You should demand that every inch of our border is protected, fenced, surveiled and patrolled.  You should oppose illegal immigrants being given any tax-payer funded services or driver’s licenses which are magnets drawing them here.  You should demand the implementation of E-verify.  This obvious and peaceful solution will have illegals returning to their countries of origin on their own.  The interest of Big Businesses who want cheap labor are not more important than the safety of every citizen and the livelihoods of citizens out of work in Obama’s horrible economy.  You should demand the implementation of voter ID – stand against those who are nullifying the votes of legal citizens with their fraud.  Give these three to five years to work before discussing any Amnesty policy.

The anti-gun bill was killed this week.  People know that where crazy people commit mass shootings and crazy Jihadists commit mass bombings, we need to be able to protect ourselves every single day.  The best defense against both threats are law-abiding gun-owners exercising their right to bear arms, and the government and criminals shouldn’t be the only ones with guns.  Your Amnesty bill should fail for similar reasons because it’s not just terrorists that are a concern.  In my home of North Carolina there are dozens and dozens of crimes committed every month by illegal aliens.  They are drunk drivers, rapists, molesters, batterers and murderers.  We know about the government’s catch-and-release policy.  We know of all the criminals who were released, supposedly in preparation for Obama’s Sequestration.  The purpose of the government is to protect its citizens and part of that is securing our borders and enforcing the law.  It’s obvious, we all know it, every country does it and there’s nothing racially charged or unfair about it.  Stop the push for Amnesty!

Amnesty & Losing the Meaning of Citizenship

The below was adapted from my welcome introduction to the iiiMPACT Conference we created.  You can see video, photos, and other info on this event at iiiMPACT.com.

iiiMPACT arose out of a conversation between a friend and me.  We were talking about how our votes are being nullified by illegal immigrants and dead people.  This made illegal immigration and our administration’s lack of law enforcement the utmost concern.  What good is it to talk about jobs, jobs, jobs, if illegals are taking those jobs that should go to citizens?  What good is it for Republicans to ask for our votes when our votes are being stolen, our administration suing those (e.g. Florida) who are trying to purge their voter rolls of fraud?

Delivered August 11th, 2012

“I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; and I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same.”

Yesterday my beloved husband said this when he took the Oath of Allegiance and became a citizen.  After many years, thousands of dollars spent and miles travelled, reams of paperwork, and countless hours of waiting, he finally reached that moment he’s been dreaming of since he was a child in his native Brazil.

Conversely, on June 15th Barak Obama unconstitutionally decreed that 800 thousand illegal youth will be granted legal working status.  He said these are just hard-working, patriotic people.  HOW DOES HE KNOW?  How does he know that they or the estimated 12-20 million illegals are here in good faith, for the right reasons?  How does he know whether each one of those millions is criminal or lawful?

Of course, HE DOESN’T.  They haven’t been interviewed and vetted.  Neither their stories, nor their countries of origin, nor their reasons for being here have been recorded.  One thing we do know.  Their first act in our country was to break our laws.  By coming here illegally they set themselves their children up for insecurity and failure, unlike the millions of legal immigrants who respected our laws so that they could be protected by our laws.

Meanwhile, our border agents are being instructed not to do their jobs as border agents.  In fact they are now instructed to run away.  We know about catch-and-release under which law enforcement officers who arrest illegal criminals even for violent crimes are being told to release them for such reasons as “He says he’s getting a GED.”

The more our laws are ignored, the longer our laws go unenforced, the more lawless we become.  A lawless country cannot and does not protect and guarantee the rights of the people.  It moves according to the will and whim of the powerful.

It’s interesting to note that immigrants who came from despotic or communist countries tell me they recognize that that’s where this country is heading.  Action by action, whether it’s ignoring illegal immigration, NDAA, Obamacare, Fast & Furious, Solyndra and the rest, we are becoming like the poor & corrupt countries from which they fled.  Through our lack of border control and immigration law enforcement we are losing the importance and meaning of American citizenship.

Immigrants past and present did not come here to find a country like their own.  They came to find one better, safer, and with more opportunity than you can shake a stick at.  They came to escape poverty, tyranny and corruption, where their rights would be guaranteed and protected.

Every country across the globe exercises strict protection of its borders.  In some countries you’re simply shot for trespassing the border.  Travelers and citizens alike are required to carry identifying documentation, and interestingly your religion is part of that documentation.  It is a difficult and long process to become a citizen of any country.  And yet here in America we’re being told that we are somehow against immigrants simply because we want to enforce the laws under which everyone, immigrants included, want and need to be protected.

But we know this tactic.  It’s subterfuge designed to shut us up quickly, just like all the baseless charges of racism so prevalent in our politics today.

They hope to shout us down and shut us up, and a lot of people including politicians on both sides of the isle are succumbing.  Both parties benefit from illegal immigration, whether the prize is a new voting bloc, cheap labor, or both.  So on one side are the timid who are paralyzed with fear of being called a name, and on the other side those driven by money and political expediency.

That’s why We the People put this together.

You may have seen Civitas’s video detailing voter fraud in North Carolina after the in which people were rejected because they weren’t citizens, and yet many of those same illegals were registered to vote.

That’s why we created iiimpact on this subject.  It started out with two of us taking about the fact that if our VOTES ARE NULLIFIED, our SOVEREIGNTY is gone.  Elections won’t matter and we have already lost.

Iiimpact is a bipartisan event.  Why?  Because an illegal drunk driver who kills a citizen does not distinguish whether his victim was a Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative.  The billions of taxpayer spent supporting illegal immigrants in our hospitals, schools, welfare and social security come from both Democrats and Republicans.  Political affiliation is irrelevant to the victim who is assaulted by the violent criminal who was caught and released because of our spineless and corrupt so-called department of homeland “SECURITY.”  This is a bipartisan issue.

Iiimpact is a testament to what is POSSIBLE here in our beloved democratic republic.  It’s a testament to the Potential of everyday citizens to lawfully affect change for the better in our country.  This isn’t possible in so many countries.  IT’S UP TO US.
